The red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is a bird of prey, one of three species colloquially known in the United States as the "chickenhawk," though it rarely preys on standard sized chickens. The brain-to-body mass ratio of adult scrub jays rivals that of chimpanzees and cetaceans, and is dwarfed only by that of humans. 

The leaves have a taco shell shape. They can be seen during the day, but they are most active in the evening and at night.

The San Gabriel River Trail is a little more than six miles long and follows the river from downtown Georgetown all the way to above the dam of Lake Georgetown. you enter a region of modest homes with horses in the back yards (and goats and chickens and more). Parking is a bit tough, but this can be avoided by taking public transit. If any leaves are present, they are minute and scale-like.

Eschscholzia californica, also known as the Californian poppy, golden poppy, California sunlight, or cup of gold, is a species of flowering plant in the family Papaveraceae, native to the United States and Mexico.     The turkey vulture (Cathartes aura), also known in some North American regions as the turkey buzzard (or just buzzard), and in some areas of the Caribbean as the John crow or carrion crow, is a vulture that is the most widespread of the New World vultures. It gets a bit wilder further upstream, but down here it is concrete and urban views of back yards and industry. Poison oak cover can be thick in riparian areas and along stream banks. Nice touch. It is prized for use in native pant, water conserving, and wildlife gardens.

    Crotalus viridis (Common names: prairie rattlesnake, western rattlesnake, plains rattlesnake, and others) is a venomous pit viper species native to the western United States, southwestern Canada, and northern Mexico. Western rattlesnakes live on the land, but it can sometimes climb in trees or bushes.     The greater roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus) is a long-legged bird in the cuckoo family, Cuculidae, from Southwestern United States and Mexico. Ask the Yelp community! Wife down at Liberty reports heavy rains there. Cross the intersection diagonally, and follow the bike path on the other side. Parking is available at two trailheads in Azusa: a small parking lot is located near the trail's northern end on San Gabriel Canyon Road (State Route 39), while a much larger parking lot can be found off E. Foothill Boulevard. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and road biking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is pretty well maintained and dips below most crossroads where they cross the river.     The Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) is a large duck native to Mexico, Central, and South America. Potholes here and there. There is a nice nature center in the park. In the fall, the leaves turn to gold and yellow before falling from the trees.

    Artemisia douglasiana (California Mugwort, Douglas's Sagewort or Dream Plant) is an aromatic herb in the genus Artemisia. Biking Trails. Found north of Mexico, it is one of the best-known mammals in Canada and the United States.

    The monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is a milkweed butterfly (subfamily Danainae) in the family Nymphalidae. been running, walking and riding on this trail for many years and I always enjoy it. In June, the rattlesnakes come out of hibernation and can be seen on the trail in that areabe careful!!! There is a small part on the small of their backs where there are some green feathers. The plant is typically found on dry hillsides and in gravelly soils.

    Laurel sumac has adapted to fire return intervals of 50-100+ years in the chaparral areas where it grows, and after a fire burns its above ground parts, a large burl underground resprouts new stems and leaves.

    Comarostaphylis diversifolia, summer holly or California comarostaphylos, is a species of shrub in the heath family. Ahead is a RR bridge and then the 91 Freeway.     The green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) is a species of freshwater fish in the sunfish family (Centrarchidae) of order Perciformes. This resemblance is the source of both the common name hollyleaf cherry and its scientific name ilicifolia (Ilex-leaved, Ilex is the holly genus).

    The great blue heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands. It grows as a leafless viney plant with slender orange to yellowy stems that fasten to their host plant by means of a knobb,y root-like structure called a haustoria.
